Trullo house in Puglia
Trullo & Villa in Puglia with Gated Pool
Having lived in sunny Puglia and visited a variety of family villas in scenic locations there, it is not easy to choose just one representative villa for my website. This holiday home does however incorporate many elements which are typical of the kind of places I like to recommend. It is actually two separate houses which can be rented together, sharing a fenced pool and lush garden. It is ideal for two families on holiday together. One house is a gorgeous two bedroom ‘trullo’ dating back to 1820. The other is a three bedroom modern villa. The interiors of both houses are well furnished and equipped for laid back summer living. The surrounding olive trees make a wonderfully natural backdrop, so typical of Puglia. Above all though, this property is brilliant for families with young children. The pool is fenced to prevent little ones falling in unexpectedly, there is a large flat lawn where they can run around without falling off terraces. Swings and slides will keep them entertained for hours too.

Countryside and Beaches
Set in the rolling hills of the Valle d’Itria, this villa is in a great location for exploring both the countryside, coast and hilltop villages. Gentle walks or cycling through ancient olive groves near the villa is one of life’s simple pleasures. Head to the coves and beaches on the Adriatic or Ionian for a day at the beach or stroll through the cobbled historic centres of Ostuni or Cisternino for a taste of southern dolce vita.
Stylish
The owners have skilfully furnished the trullo and villa to create a welcoming, modern space whilst retaining its authentic rustic character, a style so typical of Puglia. Smooth marble and modern lighting enhance the beauty of its exposed stone ceilings, whilst modern bathrooms and comfortable outdoor seating give it a luxurious feel.
Shops and restaurants nearby
Villas in the countryside are rarely within walking distance of a restaurant but this one is. So you can leave the car behind and enjoy a taste of local cuisine. A convenient 10 minutes drive away is your nearest supermarket (open all day, 7 days per week) as well as other local shops and restaurants.
Essentials
Apart from linen and services of a housekeeper, an informal cook service can be arranged.
Family friendly activities
The owners of this holiday home have lots of good advice about where to go and what to do in the vicinity so that everyone in the family has a good holiday. From learning how to make fresh pasta to horse riding and the best friendly beaches they will point you in the right direction.
